Assistant Director, Student & Young Alumni Giving
Pay Status and Classification: Non-exempt, Regular full-time.
Supervisor: Director of Annual Giving
Position Purpose: Plays a pivotal role in strategically developing and implementing programs aimed at fostering a culture of philanthropy among students and young alumni. Oversees the GOLD program, manages student philanthropy initiatives, and builds a robust Phonathon program, contributing to the College's ongoing efforts to increase engagement and financial support from these vital constituencies.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Young Alumni Philanthropy and Engagement: Leads and champions the GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) program to foster a strong volunteer-driven fundraising and engagement strategy among young alumni. Collaborates with the GOLD Committee to develop and execute initiatives that enhance young alumni involvement and giving. Cultivates and manages a portfolio of young alumni volunteers and GOLD leadership giving prospects, strategically nurturing relationships to identify potential major gift donors. Collaborates with Alumni & Parent Engagement colleagues to plan and execute young alumni events that strengthen connections between young graduates and the college.
- Student Philanthropy: Develops and implements a comprehensive student philanthropy program designed to educate and inspire a culture of giving among students from all class years. Creates engaging and informative activities to raise awareness about the impact of philanthropy on campus, emphasizing the significance of student contributions. Establishes and oversees an annual Senior Class Gift Campaign that encourages graduating students to contribute to the college before they transition into alumni status. Implements strategies for cultivating first-time student donors to encourage long-term giving and involvement with the college.
- Phonathon: Builds and manages a dynamic Phonathon program that strategically aligns with the overall Annual Giving solicitation plan. Recruits, trains, and supervises student workers for the Phonathon, providing necessary support, motivation, and mentorship. Fosters a positive and inclusive working environment that motivates student callers to excel in their fundraising efforts. Regularly analyzes Phonathon performance data and prepares statistical reports to present to the Director of Annual Giving, using insights to refine strategies and achieve fundraising goals.
- General College Relations: Participates in the development and execution of an annual strategic plan for the Office of Annual Giving. Staff College Relations events as needed. Contributes to other campus initiatives and key college priorities if and when opportunities arise.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and two or more years of experience in annual giving, development, alumni relations, or related fields, or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies for students and young alumni.
- Strong understanding of philanthropy trends and best practices in higher education fundraising.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, young alumni, colleagues, and volunteers.
- The ability to foster and enhance a thriving, culturally diverse, and inclusive learning community, while promoting a sense of belonging among students, alumni, faculty, and staff colleagues.
- Experience in managing and motivating student workers or volunteers.
- Proficiency in data analysis and utilizing metrics to inform decision-making.
- Familiarity with fundraising software and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
- Passion for higher education and the mission of the College.
- Ability to exercise exceptional judgment, ensure strict confidentiality, and demonstrate outstanding professionalism in a range of situations.
The rate for this position is $24.00 - $28.00 per hour. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
