Talent Acquisition Consultant 

Pay Status and Classification: Exempt, Regular Full Time 

Supervisor: Director of Talent Acquisition

Position purpose: With the director’s guidance consults with hiring managers and runs searches to fill positions. Helps the director with developing a pipeline of high-potential applicants according to the College’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) goals and objectives. Provides primary and backup support to other senior HR team members, particularly in the areas of HR systems and operations. This is currently a two-year term position, subject to extension or conversion. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Running Searches: Plans and manages searches to fill positions, including consultation and scoping with hiring managers; writing and updating job descriptions, postings, and advertisements; placing and monitoring ads; sourcing applicants and initial screening of applications; conducting interviews, reference checks, and background checks; supporting search committees; and advising hiring managers through the making of offers, releasing candidates, and the onboarding of new staff members. Ensures that throughout the search and hiring process candidates are treated with respect and hospitality.
  2. Applicant Pipeline Development: Drives awareness of the College as a great place to work, particularly among job seekers from underrepresented groups according to DEIB goals and objectives. Builds and strengthens relationships with local and regional job-service organizations. Attends hiring events to represent Union College.
  3. HR Team Support: Provides primary and backup support to other senior HR team members, particularly in the areas of HR systems and operations. Manages, co-manages, and/or participates in HR training, staff recognition initiatives, events, and special projects. Coordinates the content for Human Resources social media accounts. Offers to pitch-in to help colleagues during crunch times and overlapping deliverables. 

Qualifications: 

  1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, and/or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience.
  2. Experience building strong business relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
  3. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to be impartial and establish rapport with a diverse range of campus community members.
  4. Able to exercise exceptional judgment, ensure strict confidentiality, and demonstrate outstanding professionalism in a range of situations.
  5. Able to support, contribute to, and strengthen a vibrant, culturally diverse, and inclusive learning community of students, alumni, faculty, and fellow staff colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  1. Prior experience in a recruitment position. 
  2. Knowledge of labor markets, recruiting practices, sourcing approaches, and effective social media recruitment tools and marketing resources.
  3. Experience working with an applicant tracking system.
  4. Experience supporting diversity recruitment initiatives.
  5. Demonstrated project planning and management.
  6. Experience working in a higher education setting.
