Pay status and classification: Salaried, regular full-time.

Position Purpose: Shoots and edits video content aligned with the College’s mission. Maintains high-quality video content, lighting, audio equipment, as well as managing video content archives. Reporting to the Director of Digital Strategy, the videographer is a visual storyteller who shoots and edits videos for a wide array of uses at Union (web, social media, email marketing, etc.) and will also manage any video and multimedia projects outsourced to freelancers. 

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional who thrives in a collaborative work environment, has the ability to solve problems creatively and quickly and works with a high degree of flexibility, competence and professionalism.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Coordinate and produce regular video content to enhance Union’s main communications channels, including social media, news content, Union.edu, digital extras for the Union College magazine and more.  
  2. Schedule and coordinate all video shoots on and off campus. 
  3. Serve as a video resource to on-campus clients, including Athletics, Admissions, College, Relations, Student Affairs and more. 
  4. Help identify and ultimately manage a digital asset system to help catalog and archive all videography. 
  5. Fulfill any video and b-roll requests from internal and external communities. 

Qualifications: 

  1. Bachelor’s degree and/or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience.
  2. 3-5 years of professional videography experience.
  3. Experience and advanced knowledge of videography, including understanding of cameras, lighting and associated computer hardware and software including Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
  4. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment and in flexible work hours including early mornings, nights and weekends, as required to cover assignments.
  5. Flexibility and ability to shift priorities to accommodate urgent deadlines. 
  6. Excellent communication, time management, organization skills and attention to detail. - Ability to move, lift, set up and break down photography and videography equipment. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Strong knowledge of animation production. 
  2. Project management experience.
  3. Prior professional experience in higher education communications or marketing.
  4. Working knowledge of the essentials of marketing, messaging and storytelling.
  5. Appreciation of the mission of a higher education institution.
