Union College is looking for an energetic team mate to join the benefits team!  The Assistant Director of Leave Management & Benefits will be responsible primarily for managing various federal, state and College leaves and for coordination of employee recognition programs.  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree with a concentration in HR and a minimum of three to five years leave processing experience, preferably in a higher education setting. Will consider other combinations of degree and experience.
  • Professional Human Resources certification (PHR/SPHR; SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) highly desired.
  • Demonstrated positive interpersonal abilities and excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and HRIS systems.
  • Proficiency with speaking Spanish a plus. 

This position will:

  • Administer disability, Workers' Compensation, FMLA and other leaves handled both internally and with outside vendors.
  • Provide guidance to a diverse group of employees about their leave.
  • Provide training on the leave process.
  • Coordinate with the Environment Health & Safety team to provide accident prevention training and investigate accident causes.
  • Process unemployment claims.
  • Oversee employee recognition programs.
  • Assist with pandemic response.
