The Facilities Services Department at Union College is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and team oriented individual to fill the position of Plumber at our Schenectady, NY campus.


  • High school diploma and two years of technical trade school in the appropriate field and/or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience.
  • A valid New York State driver’s license is required.
  • Must obtain proficient knowledge in water distribution and waste water disposal in both commercial and residential applications.
  • Strong understanding of the relevant building codes, policies, and procedures pertaining to the installation and maintenance of equipment is required.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret blue prints and schematics, basic computer skills, and knowledge of LOTO procedures.
  • Must posses effective decisional, negotiating, team building, and leadership/mentoring skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and listening skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A valid Master Plumbing License (Preferred in Albany, Schenectady, or Troy).


  • The qualified candidate will possess the knowledge, the skills, and the ability to complete the necessary skills to achieve organizational objectives through being both ethical and beneficial, while working in a diverse educational environment.
  • Install, repair, and maintain pipes, fixtures and associate equipment used to maintain flow and drainage of water, air, and other gas systems in both commercial and residential applications.
